Art work for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI appeared in the games official category on Twitch recently, sending the GTA community into a frenzy. Some streamers were lead to believe they had discovered the official artwork for Rockstars next big release.
The long awaited follow-up to 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V is set to be one of the biggest video game releases of all time, but so far almost nothing is known about the game outside of unofficial leaks and rumours. Rockstar did reveal that development on the title was underway, but they didn’t confirm any key details like it’s setting or a release window.
Players were shocked recently to find that Twitch knew something that nobody else did and that is what the box art would look like, or at least that’s what fans thought until it was very quickly debunked.

A few days ago, DarkViperAU posted a tweet showing GTA VI in the category search on Twitch. The artwork included the well known roman numeral style logo on Vice City style backdrop of palm trees.
“Twitch confirms the box artwork for GTA VI,” the twitter post was captioned.
But fans were quick to reply calling the artwork fake, with one fan explaining why in a Twitter thread.

The palm tree background is a stock image. Also, Twitch pulls game covers from IGDB (Which is an open platform anybody can edit). Fake, I’m afraid,” they replied.
This isn’t the first prank that has been pulled on fans this month, earlier this week ‘trailers’ for Grand Theft Auto 6 kept popping up on YouTube as well as fake post claiming that GTA 6 merchandise had appeared on Rockstars website showing off the games new logo.
For now we’ll just have to patiently wait for official information from Rockstar themselves.
