Fans of Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War will know just how annoying the Flak Jacket perk can be, even in the Hardcore game modes.
There has been a whole host of updates since November to address certain issues with Cold War, weapon buffs and nerfs, perks have been tweaked and balance changes have been made to game modes like search and destroy.
Now Treyarch have another player complaint to contend with, this time it’s the Flak Jacket perk that they aren’t happy with. Players are complaining the perk is far too strong and it’s helping players sponge too many explosions – even in Hardcore.
A post was made on Reddit by ‘tf___’ who posted a video of how overpowered the perk can be. The video shows him pinning an enemy in the upper room of the house on Nuketown. He fired a Rocket Launcher at him and threw a Semtex, both of these registered hits, he then fired another RPG and registered a third explosive hit. All three shots were stopped by Flak Jacket.
The perk allowed the enemy to come out of the room and kill the Redditor, leaving him wondering what on Earth just happened.
Players in the comment section were fast to leave their thoughts on the situation, with some saying they all but gave up on unlocking camos for Launchers until the issue is addressed. One player even made the suggestion that “Flak jacket should break if you take a certain amount of damage from explosives,” The same way plates work in Warzone.
“Flack jacket should only resist one close impact launcher shot, but you should die to a direct impact,” suggested another commenter.
To make it worse, the issue is exactly the same in Hardcore, a mode where just one bullet will kill you, but you can withstand 3 explosions from a Rocket Launcher, like in this clip posted to Reddit by ‘MLBRas’
Hopefully Treyarch take notice of the frustration the perk is causing and make some balance changes to the perk in the future.
