Codemasters has officially announced its highly anticipated title, EA Sports WRC, expected to redefine rally games for next-gen consoles and PCs. The game’s launch date is set for November 3, and it promises to be the company’s most ambitious project in over a decade.
“This is the rally game we’ve always wanted to make,” said senior creative director Ross Gowing. According to him, EA Sports WRC will “[combine the] studio’s deep knowledge and expertise with the power of the official WRC license representing the pinnacle of rally motorsport.”
The game will feature 18 official locations from the FIA World Rally Championship, making up a substantial 600 kilometers of tracks for players to explore. Players will also have an impressive selection of vehicles to choose from, including 10 current WRC, WRC2, and Junior WRC cars. Additionally, the game will offer nearly 70 iconic rally cars from the last six decades, broadening its appeal to both new and long-time fans of the motorsport.
Codemasters has partnered with Jon Armstrong, the current European Rally Championship 3 champion. The collaboration aims to improve upon the original Dynamic Handling System of Codemasters’ games by employing Unreal Engine technology. Players will not only be able to personalize the handling of their chosen car but also have the unique opportunity to create their own vehicles in a dedicated Builder arena.
Pre-orders are already available, and those who take advantage of the early purchase will receive five VIP passes. According to the game’s publisher, EA Sports, these passes will offer several post-launch extras, including three days of early access starting on October 31 and three vanity packs filled with in-game liveries and apparel.
In summary, EA Sports WRC is setting the stage for a new era of rally racing games, combining cutting-edge technology, an extensive collection of cars and tracks, and engaging customization features. With the backing of industry experts and the excitement of the gaming community, this title is poised to become a landmark in the world of motorsport gaming.
