Call of Duty: Vanguard writers have recently revealed that they hope the game will have a further two sequels continuing the story of the main characters in the campaign.
Vanguard writer Sam Maggs revealed during New York Comic Con that “We came into this process saying, ‘how do we make the iconic CoD characters?’, because you don’t really have that in Call of Duty right now. You know when you think about a game like Halo, you think of Master Chief, but when you think of CoD there’s not really those standout characters”.
The team then began discussing who could be the flagship characters of the game, Maggs continued to say “we want to make Vanguard 2 and Vanguard 3, because we have two more stories that we want to tell with these characters.” The end goal is for the group to become “figureheads for this era of CoD.”
Sledgehammer Games also gave us a deeper look into the campaigns main characters recently, and it looks like a pretty interesting group.
Of course it is too early to say if we will ever see a Vanguard trilogy come into fruition, it would however make sense as Call of Duty titles tend to work on a cycle every three years.
However, it would contradict previous rumours that have suggested Call of Duty 2022’s title will be Modern Warfare 2 although we must take this information with a pinch of salt at the moment as nothing has yet been confirmed.
Only time will tell what is in store for the future of the Call of Duty franchise, but be sure to check back with us at Gamerficial for the latest news and updates.
