According to a recent report from Bloomberg, some higher ups at Activision are in talks about making some major changes to Call of Duty’s release schedule. It could be that the company will decide to ditch the yearly release schedule altogether and slow down on the launch of new titles in the franchise.
Employees are leaning towards slowing down releases as they feel that more time between titles is what the franchise needs in order to breathe new life into the player base.
This comes after Call of Duty: Vanguard failed to reach expected sales after its release at the end of last year, could a more spread out schedule be what the series needs? According to the Bloomberg report, we could be seeing this happen as soon as next year.
The report comes following Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the purchase set Microsoft back just under $70 billion.
Of course, we must take this information with a pinch of salt at the moment as nothing has yet been confirmed, it looks like fans will jut have to wait it out to see what is in tore for the future of the franchise.
