Black Ops Cold War scraps controversial feature from Modern Warfare

Fans have been asking for this since the game released.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War was revealed earlier this week alongside a sneak peak of the new zombies mode. In addition showing us a good look at the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC games multiplayer, Activision also revealed a tone of finer details about the online mode.

One thing the game will not take from Modern Warfare is the mini-map. Activision have confirmed that the classic red dot mini map will be returning to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Modern Warfare released with a new kind of mini-map, which removed the classic red dots from the map. A big change to the classic Call of Duty formula is going to get a lot of scrutiny from the community, and the removal of the red dots on the mini map did just that. Along with the skill based match making, it was one of the bigger complaints about the game.

Speaking of skill based match making, there’s still no official word from Activision about whether or not it will be returning to Black Ops Cold War. However reports have indicated it will be coming back exactly as it was in Modern Warfare. Only time will tell if this is true or not, but most of the leaks, reports, and rumours have been correct so far. So it seems safe to assume this one will be correct too.

Fans can at least be happy knowing that the classic red dot mini map will be returning to the game.

Black Ops Cold War is in development for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC, and it is currently scheduled for release worldwide on November 13.
