The file size of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been on players minds for quite some time now, even across all platforms the title takes up a substantial amount of space.
The title receives regular updates and is constantly adding new content which sees the file size soar rapidly, despite best efforts to reduce the file size the numbers continue to rise with every new update.
The recent Season 4 update was no exception, with the addition of multiple new weapons and maps the games file size has continued to grow significantly.
Players using PlayStation 5 to play have reported that the title is taking up over 200GB on their consoles, other platforms have also seen similar numbers when it comes to file size.
Reddit user ‘switchondem’ took to the platform to share their experience of the issue with an image showing just how much space the title is taking up on their PS5.
The image shows Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War taking up a whopping 219.8 GB on their PS5, for comparison the image also shows other titles such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order taking up 47.20 GB and It Takes Two taking up 43.78 GB.
The post reads “his game is now 219.8 GB on PS5, which has 667.2 GB of free console storage space to start with. The tech to compress it exists, but the file size just keeps increasing”.
Of course, in a bid to combat this issue players can uninstall different features of the game such as Black Ops Cold War Zombies, although the file size will still remain a significant size.
Fans are hoping that Treyarch will implement a fix to reduce the file size, I guess we will just have to wait and see if this comes into fruition.
