EA recently confirmed that DICE is “way ahead” of schedule on Battlefield 6. They shared the update with investors where we learned the game will be launching around ‘holiday 2021’. The reveal should be coming this spring.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson has teased us last week by saying “Our next Battlefield experience will mark a return to all out military warfare”. “The game takes full advantage of the power of next generation platforms to bring massive immersive battles to life with more players than ever before.
“Featuring maps with unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevates it to another level. The team is focused and the game is ahead of our internal milestones. We will reveal the game in the spring and deliver a defining Battlefield experience for our players in holiday 2021.”
Big claims for a game in a series that seemed to be on a downward spiral these last few years, but this is exactly what Battlefield needs to bring it back to they days of Battlefield 3 and 4. Fully utilising the power of the next generation consoles to make the most incredible destructible environments, something we haven’t seen in a multiplayer game in quite some time.
This could be exactly what we get according to reliable leaker Tom Henderson. On Twitter he shared a picture of the skyscraper from Shanghai, with the caption “It started with one and ended up with many #Battlefield #Battlefield6”.
Will we see fully destructible cities in the next Battlefield game? Let us know what you think on Twitter.
