Ubisoft are working on an Assassin’s Creed game with the intent of shaking up the current formula in a big way. A collaborative effort between Ubisoft’s Montreal and Quebec studios which sets out to “evolve in a more integrated and collaborative manner that’s less centred on studios and more focused on talent and leadership.”
Infinity will be a live service game and will take inspiration from games like Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto but not much more is publicly known about the game.
Reddit user ‘Smooth-Earth2875’ who claims to be a Ubisoft employee, took to the platform to share some alleged insider information on the upcoming title.
The post read “Though in the early stages of conceptualisation and development Assassins Creed Infinity is in a solid enough state that I can confidently describe what shape the game will take. Infinity is inspired by the Helix from Unity.”
“Each entry will be a small linear experience with semi open world levels like the Hitman games and each assassins story will feature multiple missions. Ubisoft is also planning to remake and retell older Assassins Creed games in Infinity.”
“It is still to early to determine what older games if any will be retold. Lastly a new story will be added overtime for an additional cost. Open world Assassins Creeds will be developed at the same time as Infinity.”
Smooth-Earth2875 took this time to address that the game is still in the early development stages but will offer players a much smaller experience that we are used to, this will take place in a semi-open world setting.
Players will reportedly take on the role of a number of Assassins as each mission will include a number of different missions, although the game itself will feature a brand new story.
The Redditor also claims that Ubisoft has plans to “remake and retell” older titles in the franchise although if this is true, it is yet to be confirmed which games they will be.
Or course, we must take this information with a pinch of salt as nothing has yet been confirmed, but in the meantime be sure to check back with us at Gamerficial for the latest news and updates.
