The battle royal title by Respawn Entertainment, Apex Legends has now become more popular than Rockstar’s GTA V on Steam.
Over the past few months we have seen Apex Legends race its way towards the top of the charts, the game was becoming so popular fans started to demand the title be released on Steam. Eventually, their prayers were answered in November of last year and since then the title has seemed to go from strength to strength with no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
Apex Legends is currently holding a strong position on Steam’s most-played games list in fifth place. What’s interesting is that the title has seemed to acquire over a 50% lead over Rockstars fan favourite title GTA V. The title already smashed through its players record on Steam just over a month ago, however now it has continued to grow taking it to the most successful it has ever been.
The game is constantly adding new content and events throughout the year keeping players entertained and in turn attracting a bunch of new players. The recently launched brand new season Mayhem brought with it heaps of new content keeping the game fresh for players.
There was also a specific collection of in game items to collect too that was released to celebrate the games two year anniversary, the event sadly came to a close yesterday although it was extended for another week as players were facing some connectivity issues.
It makes sense that there were some issues with the EA servers considering just how many players were actually trying to access the event. Fans shouldn’t be disheartened if they missed the event as the game is always trying to mix things up and keep it fresh and exciting for players, so we wouldn’t be surprised if we were to see a new event arise soon.
We have already heard some rumours of a Caustic Town Takeover approaching through leaks. Of course, we should take these leaks with a pinch of salt as we can’t say for sure what exactly we can expect, however we’re sure that given the games continuing success we are bound to see some new content headed our way soon.
