Call of Duty fans have been crying out for a standalone Zombies title for quite some time.
Despite Call of Duty featuring great campaign options and multiplayer mode, fans are still calling out for one thing… a standalone Zombies game.
Given the success of Zombies mode, players are wondering just why a standalone Zombies game hasn’t been made yet.
Reddit user ‘shweba16’ took to the platform to ask this very question, the post read “What would you guys think if Zombies became its own separate game like Warzone with Treyarch being the developers?”
“What if this separate Zombies game had all the maps whilst running on BO3 mechanics whilst also having the upgradable features from CW (More story specific characters as well unlike most of the generic CW operators)? The game gets a constant stream of updates season after season with wonder weapons and maps being added.”
“I’m only saying this since there’s a huge disparity between how much time I’ve put into CW Zombies compared to CW Multiplayer this year. Zombies this year, though easier than previous years, is way more enjoyable than MP.”
“The upgradable perks, ammo mods, etc and the grind for Dark Aether has been a breath of fresh air for me. In previous CoD games I’d play MP way more but it’s been boring and stressful since BO4’s MP.”
This sounds as if it could work, other users were quick to hit the comments with many being in agreement with the idea.
One user said “Yes but I’d want Cold War’s movement. The mantling is so nice and honestly limited sprinting is an outdated mechanic that shouldn’t have even been in BO3 to begin with.”
Another wrote “I’d love it but they’ll never separate zombies from base CoD because they’d be too scared of losing players on base CoD”.
While this is an interesting idea, it’s not the first time it has been mentioned, well known leaker Tom Henderson took to Twitter earlier this year in February with claims that a standalone Call of Duty Zombies title was in early development.
The post read “There is a separate Call of Duty zombies project in early development, that is currently not connected to any title.”
It looks like fans will have to wait this one out and see if it ever comes into fruition, but in the meantime be sure to check back with us at Gamerficial for the latest news and updates.
