Red Axe Games is preparing to launch The Enigma Cases, a new 1-4 player detective adventure that lets gamers step into the shoes of private investigators in the fictional 2000s town of Sunderwood. Blending gritty noir atmosphere with modern forensic tools, the game focuses on solving complex, story-rich cases involving mysterious murders, suspicious deaths, accidents, and suicides. Players can tackle each case alone or team up with friends, with a free demo already available on Steam to try the first full investigation.
In The Enigma Cases, expect to spend most of your time at detailed crime scenes—searching cafés, apartments, highways, forests, and more for physical clues. You’ll collect fingerprints, take DNA swabs, bag suspicious objects, photograph evidence, and examine bodies in a realistic but tasteful way. The game also features open-world suspect tracking where you can follow leads across town, interview witnesses, and interrogate people to uncover hidden motives and alibis.
A big highlight is the split-role system that shines in co-op. One player acts as the Field Detective, handling on-site work and conversations, while the other becomes the Cyber Detective, diving into digital evidence like emails, GPS logs, security camera footage, social media, and police databases back at the station. You’ll repair damaged audio recordings, run lab tests, crack safes and ciphers, and piece together reports that unlock new leads. Voice chat is highly recommended because sharing clues in real time is essential to cracking each case.
Every investigation has multiple branching outcomes based on the evidence you find and how you interpret it, giving strong replay value. Mature themes like crime-scene details and psychological tension are present, but the focus stays on smart detective work rather than gore or jump scares. The full game is scheduled for PC release via Steam in 2026 (with Early Access expected soon), and extra DLC cases are already planned. If you enjoy thoughtful co-op puzzle games like Phasmophobia mixed with LA Noire-style forensics, The Enigma Cases is shaping up to be a must-play for mystery fans.
