Fans were baffled when Modern Warfare 2 was released without any sign of a hardcore mode.
Hardcore mode is set to return to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with the games season 2 content update on February 15. The news was announced via a tweet posted yesterday by the Infinity Ward Twitter account. “No HUD? No Problem. Hardcore is back!” telling players to keep an eye on the studio blog for updates.
The new hardcore mode is exactly what fans have been asking for, a variant of multiplayer that removes the HUD and makes bullets act how they would in real life, killing enemies in only one or two hits. This mode has been a staple in the Call of Duty franchise for years which is why fans are upset at how long they’ve had to wait for it to be added to the game.
A new mode was added to Modern Warfare 2 not long after release called Tier 1, fans have voiced their hatred for this hardcore mode substitute since it was released.
A lot of fans have praised Infinity Ward for adding hardcore, but most of angry that it took this long to get a mode that was available on release in most other Call of Duty games. Accusing them of neglecting Modern Warfare 2 in favour of Warzone 2.0, Call of Duty’s battle royale mode.
