Rockstar posted an update to the community about the newest exploit in GTA Online that allows cheaters to corrupt data, and delete characters of people in the same lobby as them.
Hackers have been taking over in GTA Online recently, the issue is now worse than it has ever been thanks to a brand-new exploit that Rockstar had refused to address.
It started with hackers joining lobbies and giving people bad sport penalties, and moving them into ‘griefer’ lobbies, things escalated quite quickly to the point where players were losing access to their characters and having their games crashed.
Rockstar finally addresses the exploit
On January 23, Rockstar posted an update on Twitter saying that they had developers working on a security solution for the issue.
“We are aware of potential new exploits in GTA Online for PC, which we aim to resolve in an upcoming planned security-related Title Update,” they said.
They went on to ask anyone who has been effected by the issue to contact Rockstar Support with details about their issues. “If you think you might have experienced any related issues, please reach out to Rockstar Support.”
The update came shortly after GTA insider TezFunz2, claimed that the matter had been moved to the top of Rockstars priority list.
Tez also went on to say that Rockstar could be in some pretty hot water over this issue, the exploit being a Remote Code Execution could cause bigger issues with players PC’s outside of their corrupt game data, which could result in legal action against Rockstar.
So far we have no idea on how long it could take for this exploit to be resolved, so for now maybe it’s best to avoid playing GTA Online.
