A recent leak revealed that Modern Warfare 2 will feature a DMZ mode which was initially thought to be a standalone title, however on further inspection it seems that this is not the case.
A series of leaks have reported on Modern Warfare 2’s DMZ mode, the mode was originally described as an Escape From Tarkov inspired game mode which has been in development since 2018.
A number of reports claimed that it would feature brand new features along with permanently loosing any equipment taken into matches.

It was also said that it would include a heavy focus on tactical gameplay and that it would be a free-to-play stand alone title, although now it seems that new reports think otherwise.
New rumours have discredited these initial claims saying that the developers are becoming increasingly “frustrated” with these rumours and it is simply just “another mode”.
Well known leaker Tom Henderson recently reported that DMZ will not be a stand alone game but instead “will launch later this year with Modern Warfare 2”.
He also went on to say “recent rumblings of the DMZ appear to have been exaggerated”.
