A thread of Reddit reading ‘grenade button on console’ has became incredibly popular, the post features an image of Battlefield 2042’s controller scheme for the upcoming beta.
The post has reached over 2500 upvotes and almost 400 comments, with many questioning DICE’s reasoning behind the button choices.
It looks as if the grenade button has been moved to a considerably awkward location, the controller scheme shows the grenade button is set to be the directional up button on the PlayStation 5 pad in the open beta.
This means that players will need to move their thumb from the joystick to the directional button in order to throw a grenade.

Usually, we would see the grenade button be located on the right bumper or trigger, whereas in this case these buttons have been assigned to shooting and call-ins.
Players are hoping there has been a mistake of some kind and that these buttons will be changes prior to the games release, of course it is strange to think DICE would make a change of this magnitude without offering players and alternative.
