Take-Two’s ‘Increasing Hostility’ Leads To Removal Of Six Year Old GTA Underground Mod

The developers behind the mod have officially removed it from the internet.

Over the past few months, Take-Two Interactive have been battling a number of GTA mods, but now it seems that the company have officially taken down the San Andreas mod, GTA Underground.

The mod has now officially been removed from the internet over ‘increasing hostility’ along with fears of facing further legal issues.

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games has recently taken down a number of mods, the company is suing the creators of the reverse-engineered source ports of Vice City and GTA III.

Due to these ongoing issues, the creator of GTA Underground, dkluin recently mentioned in the GTAForums that they would be “officially ceasing the development” off GTA Underground.

Dkluin said “Due to the increasing hostility towards the modding community and imminent danger to our mental and financial well-being […] We sadly announce that we are officially ceasing the development of GTA: Underground and will be shortly taking all official uploads offline.”

Dkluin also followed up by thanking the community for their support over the previous six years along with acknowledging the “incredible work” from the team.

In a farewell, a video simply titled ‘The End’ was uploaded to their YouTube channel, the description read “Due to the increasing hostility towards the modding community and imminent danger to our mental and financial well-being, we officially ceased the development of GTA: Underground and have taken all of the downloads offline.”
