Rumours have been spreading for quite some time regarding the next instalment in the Call of Duty franchise and now Activision have confirmed tat that the next title will be developed by Sledgehammer Games.
The news dropped after Activision’s quarterly earnings call in which they announced Sledgehammer Games as the developer for the next Call Of Duty title.

Activision president and COO Dan Alegre said “We are very excited for this year’s premium Call of Duty release”, he also went on to say “Development is being led by Sledgehammer Games. The game is looking great and on track for its Fall release”.
Alegre also noted that the new title will integrate and enhance Warzone, unfortunately he didn’t go into further details of how this will take place but from what we have previously seen we think it is safe to assume it could look something like what we have seen with Black Ops Cold War in the back end of last year.

The upcoming title due to be developed by Sledgehammer Games will include the staple Call of Duty features will all know and love such as a single player mode, a multiplayer mode and some type of co-op mode.
It has been speculated that the new title will be named Call of Duty: Vanguard and will take players back to a World War II setting.

The last game Sledgehammer worked on was Call of Duty: WW2 back in 2017, they were also working alongside current Warzone developer Raven Software on 2020’s CoD release before Treyarch was moved into lead development of Black Ops Cold War.
