Activision In Legal Dispute With ‘Warzone’ Browser Game

Melika ZaidiSeptember 26, 20220

Activision are currently caught up in a feud with an unrelated browser game going by the name of Warzone.

Activision are involved in a dispute with a browser game named ‘Warzone’, the developer of the browser game has previously presented Activision with a cease-and-desist as they managed to secure ‘warzone.com’ before Call of Duty: Warzone even existed.

The browser game ‘Warzone’ is a strategy game which they describe as being similar to the popular game Risk. Players take on the role of deploying troops across a world map in a bid to takeover the remaining available land.

This is an entirely different concept to Call of Duty: Warzone what most of you will know as shooter style battle royale title.

The creator of browser Warzone game, Fizzer expressed his concerns that gamers may mistake his trademark Warzone browser game with Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone, even though it seems that the browser game was debuted many years before CoD:Warzone even existed.

However, Activision still claim that they had filed for a trademark on CoD:Warzone before Warzone.com was launched.

Which leaves fans questioning just why Warzone.com doesn’t belong to the fan-favourite battle royale title, instead confused fans will find themselves invited to play a game of strategy.

Although, at the time of writing there has not been an official verdict made, and as much as we’d all like to see the ‘little guy’ get one over on Activision, we will just have to hang on to see who comes out on top with this one.

The creator of Warzone.com has created a fundraiser to cover legal fees and plans to fight Activision for as long as he can.
