Tencent are creating a brand new survival game called Undawn, it follows a group of survivors in a post apocalyptic world filled with the undead. There’s plenty more to worry about than just the zombies though.

Open-world survival games get a bad rap these days, and for good reason. Time and time again players have been let down by these styles of games after buying into an early access game that promises more than it delivers, will it be any different for Undawn?
Undawn promises PvP and PvE, as well as all the usual crafting and scavenging systems we’re used to seeing in the genre. Players can trade resources with each other and even build shelters to take cover from the outside world.
“With Undawn, we wanted to create a new type of action game that combines open-world freedom with RPG elements that would completely redefine the genre, regardless of platform,” said executive producer Rick Li from Lightspeed & Quantum Studios. “The fact that we created such an amazing experience for mobile and PC platforms means that even more players around the globe will be able to survive the apocalypse together, creating the potential for a huge new type of open world experience.”
Fans of mobile games might recognise that Undawn looks a lot like Dawn Awakening, also a zombie survival game made by Tencent. The games are almost identical even down to the descriptions, and they’re being developed by the same studio. They also feature the same characters.
The game is being developed for both PC and Mobile and might even feature crossplay between the two platforms. Tencent said that crossplay “is something the development team wants to include, but is still under development.”
Undawn is currently still in development, and there isn’t much officially released gameplay. It looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer before we see gameplay from the PC version.
Undawn will release on iOS, Android, and PC.
