The theories have suggested that a zombie outbreak will end the current season for a while now, and they also seem to point to the Verdansk map leaving at the end of Season 2.

Now a new leak seems to confirm that theory, season 2 will come to a rather explosive end, and its down to you to save it. A new plague event will task players to “save Verdansk.”
Season 2 feels like its only just arrived, but fans are doing what fans do best – wondering what free content we’re getting next. Well, all leaks are pointing to this being our final season with Verdansk. Season 2 brought a shipwreck full of zombies to the game, and nuclear silos are showing up all over the map.
The only logical conclusion to come to here, is that the nukes will be used as a way to stop the zombie outbreak destroying the map in the process, but now we have some leaked audio files to confirm tat theory.
A brand new Warzone event called ‘Plague’ is coming according to Warzone leaker ZestyCoDLeaks, and will see every team up to rescue Verdansk from the undead.

The leaked audio files are in the form of in game announcements, “Verdansk is overrun, take it back’ is one line players can expect to hear as they drop into the map to fight the undead. Your squad will be tasked with clearing out ‘Plague Zones’ around the map.
If you successfully clear all the zones you will be able to exfil from the map, but fail and the consequences will be grave.
The Warzone announcer will tell you that “Verdansk is lost, end it” – leading to a nuclear explosion which is the only way to clear the hordes of undead. “Extraction canceled, nuke inbound for Verdansk”.

If you’re successful, your team will have to rush to the nearest exfil site just like in the current zombies mode.
Season 3 is said to introduce a new zombies mode to the game, so it seems like even a successful extraction will be wasted as rumours suggest the new map will be Cold War themed and set in the Ural Mountains.
Obviously this is all just speculation right now and should be taken with a huge pinch of salt, even with these leaked audio files plans could change behind the scenes leaving them unused.
