Animal Crossing: New Horizons has taken the gaming world by storm this year, surpassing sales for all of its previous titles.
The game for Nintendo Switch which was released earlier this year in March has became a viral sensation with millions of players worldwide turning to the game to create their virtual island during 2020’s global pandemic.
The game has proved to be a hit this year, especially while being in quarentine, many players found comfort in this as they were able to create their own island and virtually hang out with friends when they could not see them due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, despite being the most pooular Nintendo Switch game, they have found the sales in the second quarter to be down slightly in comparison to the first, as we are likely to be days away from the next update for Christmas, this hopefully will keep players interested and also potentially gather some new players over the holidays.
During a recent conference President Shuntaro Furukawa made a statement about how they will combat the slight decrease in sales, he had this to say:
“The sales pace of Animal Crossing: New Horizons has eased compared to the period around its initial release, but among all our titles, this one continues to maintain high sales levels. As I mentioned in response to a previous question (Q7), this title is also driving Nintendo Switch hardware sales in Asian markets, which have relatively smaller sales numbers than the markets in Japan, the U.S. and Europe.
Going forward, we will continue to implement in-game events and would like to create a situation where consumers will keep enjoying the game for a long time. This will be the first year-end sales season for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and we hope even more people will take that opportunity to purchase the game.”

This comes as exciting news that the game will continue to have regular updates and events implemented throughout, which makes us think will these events each year be the same as the previous or will they be a completely fresh event?
We have already seen the likes of Bunny Day back in April for Easter, and the recent installment in the Fall update, the Halloween event in which we saw the return of Jack the Czar of Halloween, who we have seen in previous Animal Crossing titles.

Could this mean we will see other fan favourite characters from previous games make an appearance in New Horizons, such as Brewster the much loved pigeon who owned The Roost coffee shop on the island.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});We have already had a teaser of what we can expect in the late November update, imagery featuring Jingle the Reindeer and Franklin the turkey chef were shown at the end of the fall update trailer, giving us the nod towards a Thanksgiving and Christmas event.

There wasn’t any further details about these events released, however we should expect this update to be with us soon and all of the festive fun that comes with it.
Of course there is no way to know for sure what the future holds for these events, and what we can expect, only time will tell and fans will just have to hang on for further updates in future.
