Building on the already hugely successful battle royale game.

In a new video released on his YouTube channel (embedded below this article), PlayerIGN details a recent leak that looks like a new mode coming to PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds. Codenamed “Vostok”, hints have been found in the games code that suggest players should expect an all new map with arenas.
He also shares a screen which shows a limited number of spawns and currency you earn at the end of each round which is used to buy new gear.
The existence of the arenas and wait times after defeating opponents – which is also part of the leaked data – suggests an autobattler-style 1v1 or 2v2 style combat. A huge departure from the battle royale formula which PUBG helped make popular back in 2017.
Transitioning from 100 players on a map to a one on one style setting would change the overall speed and experience of the game, and PlayerIGN claims PUNG could be out to “reinvent the Battle Royale formula”.
No official announcement has been made by developer Bluehole just yet but stayed tuned for some kind of announcement on Vostok hopefully sooner rather than later.
